Races and Factions
Cybertronians (Autobots, Decepticons, and Neutrals)
The not-so-"Golden-Age" of Cybertron under Sentinel Prime's regime was dominated by an oppressive Functionalist dogma, dictating that a Cybertonian's social standing was determined by their alternate mode. When a humble miner named Megatron began speaking out and preaching social reform, and befriending Genuinely Honest Cop Orion Pax in the process, the Functionalists tried to silence him--only serving to radicalize him to revolution. But the Decepticon movement, attracting the disgrunted, the misfits, and the outcasts, quickly shifted from something noble to something violent; the Decepticons still wanted freedom, but only atop the bodies of everyone else. Orion Pax and the Autobots rose up to resist the Decepticons, and the lines were drawn.
Now, the War on Cybertron may be over, but fractures have yet to heal. While the Autobots are technically victorious, they--and the Decepticons--are far outnumbered by the returning Neutrals who fled when war broke out. Neutral Cybertronians are no true faction of their own, and their attitudes are just as varied as you'd expect.
There are some Decepticon die-hards who refuse to live on a planet with a Prime. Under Soundwave's banner, they live in a space station orbiting Jupiter. While officially any Cybertronians are welcome amongst them, unofficially it's a Decepticons-only clubhouse.
Many veterans just want to get on with their lives. Many others can't move on.
Camiens
Hail from the energy-starved planet Caminus and place value on the artistic and the spiritual. Their chief religion is the Way of the Flame, which deifies Primus and the Primes, even viewing modern Primes as demigods to be followed without question. To be trained as a Cityspeaker is one of the highest callings a Camien can hope to achieve (and a Cityspeaker will repaint their face to honor the Titan who brought their ancestors to this planet). Most Camiens tend to eschew firearms in favor of less energy-consumptive melee weapons.
Mini-Cons
Hailing from the ravished planet of Prion, they are extremely energy efficient thanks to being roughly the size of an average human, and have evolved a special ability. A Mini-Con can symbiotically bond with a larger Transformer in a process called "Powerlinking," allowing them to enhance and boost the Transformer's abilities and in some cases even grant them new weaponry.
Velocitronians
Velocitron is a planet of extremes. During day, the planet is a hellish wasteland not even Transformers can endure; so Veloctronians designed their cities to be mobile, always following the night. Their culture is obsessed with speed, and by their law, most everything can be settled by racing for it. Velocitron and Caminus have developed a close trading relationship, as Camien efficiency has benefited Velocitron in obvious ways, and their own alternative fuel sources have benefited Caminus is equally obvious ways.
Eukarians
During the Dark Ages of Galvatron's day, beast mode Transformers were degraded as "Primitives" and persecuted fiercely. Onyx Prime led a mass exodus and they eventually formed their own society on Eukaris. Though eventually they fractured into their own societies--the Scale Walkers, the Fur Walkers, the Wave Walkers, and the Cloud Walkers, all have learned to live in harmony with nature. But they have never forgotten the discrimination they faced on Cybertron, and are naturally mistrustful of any vehicle-mode Transformer.
Predacons
Predacons were an ancient Cybertronian life form driven to extinction by Galvatron, but resurrected with good old-fashioned Decepticon mad science. Predacons are powerful and highly aggressive draconic beasts that prefer tooth, claw, and flame to fancy weaponry. Unlike their ancestors, they have the ability to transform thanks to the imperfect nature of Shockwave's cloning process. Though sentient, many are not that bright. And due to the limited amount of fossils Shockwave was able to find, their diversity is limited to only a few different body types, relying on coloration to differentiate themselves.
Junkions
A transforming robotic race, but not of Cybertronian origin, as far as anyone has been able to determine. No one is sure how life arose from the Planet of Junk, but arose it did, evolving a culture as haphazard as their components. Junkions can be hostile towards strangers, but loyal to the rare few able to befriend them. They learn a language by studying intercepted transmissions, and any human who tries to communicate with a Junkion will find himself deluged with pop culture references and memes.
